I can't think of a better way to start the day than presenting CFE to an incredibly lively, receptive group of kiddos at Central Christian School! Other than the fact that the presentation was left at home and we had to hurry to get it to the school on time, the kids ate it up! Jules taught us "God is so Good" in four, that's right four languages and it sounded great - look out tabernacle choir! First I want to send huge thanks to CCS for allowing us to present to their kids today. This was our first opportunity to put CFE out in the open and I think it went very well. Our hope is to begin building relationships with schools here in the US and help to bridge them to schools all over Africa. So far God has opened the doors in Togo, Burkina Faso and Liberia. This coming school year we will be in Congo, Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi and Burma. God is on the move and He will use the "little children" to accomplish His plans. My hope is that this is just the beginning of what God will do to connect us in America to children, schools and churches in Africa and beyond. Dear friends and partners, Grace and peace to you and your family from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Words were insufficient to express the joy of a mother from Liberia in West Africa, who was informed that her son’s schooling would be fully paid up for one year. This mother had been praying desperately to God for the money to pay for her son’s education. In Liberia, women like her work hard all day selling donuts and other traditional items, but earn less than $1.00 a day. Unknown to her, New City Fellowship and faithful partners like you, had begun to support children’s education in West Africa, through Christian Foundation for Education (CFE). When she learned that her son received a CFE scholarship for one year at Kingdom School in Liberia, she started running back and forth from the school to her house shouting joyously, her face littered with tears of gratitude and relief. It takes as little as US$100.00 for one full year of primary or high school education, yet this is way beyond the reach of so many families in Liberia, Togo and Burkina Faso, where war, oppression and poverty have left parents hopeless about their children’s future. CFE’s goal is to provide financial and spiritual support to children and youth who are impoverished, to help them achieve a sound education and go on to be leaders in their various spheres of endeavor. We began responding to this need by sponsoring just a handful of children. With your support, we now cater to 81 children across the three West African countries, sending them to institutions like Kingdom School, where there is a commitment to providing quality education in the context of the life-changing message of the gospel. We also want to expend the ministry in other countries in West Africa like Niger, Benin, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Mali. We are truly grateful for how you have helped make the dreams of these parents and children become more of a possibility. Beginning of CFE International IN 2003, while living in Lexington Kentucky, Macklann and Rose Bassé began receiving emails from their home country, Togo, about children in hard situations needing help to go to school. Macklann and Rose, both sharing a heart for the impoverished child, were troubled by this and desired deeply for God’s restoration for these children. As the emails continued over the year, they both began to pray more intensely about how they might best help these children. In 2004, after having moved to Saint Louis, they felt led to support these children through education. With the help they received from students at Covenant Seminary, the Bassé’s were able to support two children for the 2004-2005 school year. · SINCE THAT TIME, not only are those two children still being supported, but also an additional eighteen were added by way of other donors. This made a total of twenty Togolese children and youth attending school this year that gained their support from generous hearts around the world. · This current 2006 school year we have twenty children supported at an average cost of one hundred dollars per child. As stated in our objectives, this amount pays for all school fees, uniforms, materials and transportation. The children will continue to receive this same support each school year. · BEGINNING IN TOGO was a natural starting point for CFE, as it is home to both Macklann and Rose. In addition to this, Togo has been without financial assistance for more than fifteen years due to a militaristic regime, which has been ruling for over forty years. Thus making Togo a country filled with many children in desolate living conditions. · · Expanding efforts for Phase One of the ministry, CFE has chosen Liberia and Burkina Faso. There are many Christian brothers and sisters from Liberia who attend Macklann’s home church who have shared their personal concerns for their loved ones still there. Burkina Faso has been chose because a relationship has already begun with a local orphanage to Yako called Sheltering Wings Orphanage (Macklann made a trip there over Christmas 2005 ). · AS THE LORD WILLS IT, CFE will continue to support more children of West Africa through a step-wise, slow and cautious pace to ensure that Christ’s love is felt in the hearts of both the impoverished children and those that are working hard to support them. The 2006-2007 school year we hope to support a total of eighty children, 40 from Togo and 20 from Liberia and 20 from Burkina Faso.

News from Fellowship of Evangelical Students of TOGO Activity-report of September to October 2007 Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, Receive our fraternal greetings in our Lord Jesus Christ. Here is a brief account of the life of our movement during these last two months. The beginning of term planned earlier to be held on the 17th of September had been postponed by our government and has been effective on Wednesday 17th of October 2007. This delay has been observed because of the flood which took place in the northern part of our country. During this sinister, a lot of classrooms and houses had been destroyed by water. The people who lost their houses were obliged to take refuge in the schools which had not been touched by the catastrophe. So it took some time to fix everything again. In the Maritime region, a training seminar on the evangelism bible study has been held on the 06th of October 2007 at the head office of our movement. About fifteen students were present. This training seminar was intended to give to our participants what has been learned during the training on bible study held in Ouagadougou in August 2007. It was a training seminar in which some of our members participated. So it was those participants who animate the seminar of 6th October. Still in Maritime region, another seminar has been held at the head office of the movement on Saturday 27th October 2007. It was about the management of the students’ fellowships. The main speaker was Rosine AGRIPPA, the itinerant secretary of this region. The 18th of October 2007, the students’ fellowship of the University of Lomé has started officially its activities for the academic year 2007-2008. The opening ceremony has been a solemn meeting held in one of the lecture theaters of the campus. In the Central region of our country, a training seminar on the Bible study has been held on Saturday 27th October in Sokodé. About twenty students were present. The speaker was sister BOTOSSI Brénam who is a newcomer in this northern part of our country. She went there to help to manage and to train the students’ fellowships. From 22nd to 26th of October 2007, our movement observed its prayer and evangelism week which has become a tradition since some years. According to the partial reports we get, the members of the students’ fellowship of the University of Lomé would organised themselves in trios within the context of this prayer and evangelism week. In Sokodé, a movie picture projection has been organised in the Modern High School of this town. It is the biggest and oldest high school of the town. The prayer and evangelism week will end on the 1st of November 2007 with a national day of prayer and fasting. In every town of our country, meetings have been planned for prayer. Prayer requests: We are inviting every one of us to thank the Lord for: - The different seminars which have been organised by our movement and which have been a blessing for our ministry. - The prayer and evangelism week which has been effective even though all our students’ fellowships could not observe it because of the delay in the reopening of school. - The project of a better management of our students’ fellowships of the northern part of our country. The project is effective and has caused the departure of our sister BOTOSSI Brénam for that region. She is in charge of the Bible study Department of our movement. The experimental stage of this project will last 6 months. - The gradual resumption of the activities within our students’ fellowships. We are inviting every one of us to pray for: - The school year 2007-2008. We need the hand of the Lord to reach our goals. - The strengthening of the souls gained during the prayer and evangelism week. (we can not give you now any number) - All the staff of our movement (local and national) in order that each one will give the best of himself and be more effective during this school year. TOGO FELLOWSHIP OF EVANGELICAL STUDENTS (GBUST) Activity-Report (March- April 2007) Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, We greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We haven’t sent you the activity report of the last month because of the preparation of our annual congress which had been planned to start on the 31st of March. Please, excuse us. This present letter will give you a report of our activities during March and April. As we have said it above, March has been the last month for the preparation of our congress-camp. So, the Board of Directors of our movement was busy with preparing the end of its mandate and examining our status in order to prepare the different reports to be adopted by the general meeting. The staff also was preparing the project of the triennial strategic plan intended to be submitted firstly to the Board of Directors and secondly to the meeting of the congress. They had to prepare also the usual teachings of the camp. In the other side, the organizational committee of the congress–camp was working on the final preparations in Dapaong. Apart from their usual activities (Bible studies, prayer, evangelism …) all our students’ fellowships were concerned about the mobilization of the financial resources to participate in this national event of the year. So, all our activities during the month of March were about the preparation of this past congress-camp. As planned, the camp started on Saturday 31st of March at 4 pm in an Assemblies of God church in Dapaong. Pastors and men of God of the Savannah Region were present. Some officials of the town, as the mayor who was representing the prefect were also present. Private and public media as the national television were there to cover up the event. The opening program consisted in some speeches. The guest pastor, the representative of the pastors of the Savannah region, the president of the organizational committee of the congress-camp, the director of the camp, I (the General Secretary), and the mayor of the town gave one after another a speech to welcome the participants, to thank, to encourage, to set the camp in its real context, to present the movement to the meeting or to announce the solemn opening of the camp. Marvellous hymns and an opening message had been given also. The message spoke of the general topic of the camp: "On the path of Daniel and his friends: the "NO" which makes the difference". We must point out that the opening ceremony of the tenth congress –camp of our movement has been a real success. Almost all our guests were present. It was a touching spectacle to see pastors from different denominations seated side by side. The following day, we went by delegation in several churches of the town. Four (04) of them gave us the floor for the preaching of that day. But we used this opportunity to present our ministry in order to create or consolidate our partnership with those churches. In the afternoon of that day, in the framework of "Operation: the Good Samaritan", a delegation of our movement went in a centre taking care of people living with HIV to offer them clothes. This was an initiative of the students of the University of Lomé. The national Television came to cover up the program. The rest of the activities of the camp took place in the centre of Jesus’ Ministry. In addition to our traditional teaching on the identity of our movement, the program included four parts. A biblical talk on Daniel 1 to 6 gave by the missionary Antonin AZOTI of Wycliffe Togo. His approach of the biblical texts and his analysis and actualization of the book of Daniel helped us to rediscover the story of Daniel and his friends. Workshops: We had three. One on the bible Study, one on the evangelism by friendship and the last one on the leadership in the students’ fellowships. Those workshops have been organised by two times and have given the same teachings to a renewed meeting. "Youth and sex" has been a teaching gave in three sessions. The first was an exhortation with theoretical teachings on sex. The second was given in groups of same sex. The sisters could talk between themselves about their problems about sex. So did the brothers also. But brothers were divided in two groups: brothers under 17 years old and from 17 years old. This second session was intended to help everyone to ask the real questions on the practical problems they are facing in matters of youth and sex in presence of elders who had to answer to the different questions. This sharing has been highly appreciated by all and is continuing even now with a program in which we are trying to help people who have this kind of problem. The third and last session of the teaching about Youth and Sex was on HIV/ SIDA and has been given by our SIDA Department. A sketch on HIV and a testimony of a woman leaving with HIV have been given. The public has been touched by the message. The fourth and last part of the program was on two case studies. Real or imaginary problems of our students’ fellowships have been used to plan a conversation between imaginary actors to bring the participants to discuss about the subject. A cultural party and a teaching on the theme of the progressive independence of the different regions covered by our ministry have been also an important part of the program of this camp. The camp closed on the 5th of April about 1 pm. In the morning of 06th April, started the tenth congress of our movement. Thirty three (33) students’ fellowships out of forty nine of our movement were represented. This fitted the quorum of 2/3 that the status of our movement requires. The work of the congress consisted essentially in the audition and adoption of the different reports (moral, activities, and finances) and of the triennial strategic plan. For the very first time, a status has been adopted for the members. Some amendments have been also adopted. The meeting has also renewed the Board of Directors by vote. The tenth congress-camp closed on Saturday 7th of April about 2 pm. The closing ceremony was sober than the opening one. Delegates came from Lomé, Tsévié, Sotouboua, Sokodé, Lama-Tessi, Bassar, Kara, Pagouda, Guérin-Kouka, Pogno, Dapaong, Cinkassé. More than 200 people were present. Among them 214 have been registered. The others were the sympathisers of our movement in Dapaong. We want to end this report by thanksgiving: We thank the Lord: For the success of the tenth congress-camp of our movement. For the mobilization of our members through our country. We were expecting 150 participants. We get more than 200. For the life of the members of the organizational committee, especially our brother Clément H. the president who sacrifices himself for the success of the congress. For the life of the American missionary Greg YARIANS of Jesus’ Ministry who accepted to be used by the Lord for the success of this congress-camp. Not only has he given us his centre free of charge, but he has also contributed financially. For example in helping us to pay the food. For the life of the principal speaker of the camp, the missionary AZOTI Antonin who has interrupted all his activities and let his family to be with us in Dapaong. For the leading committee of the camp which endured all the difficulties during the camp. For all the donors who contributed to the success of the camp. For all the participants of this congress- camp and all those who gave their time and strength to contribute to the progress of the work of God. Pastor Tsogbale and Daniel Nyadzawo with four of the Togolese students sponsored by CFE. They received their school materials and all school fees were paid before the beginning of their academic year. All of them live and go to school in Lome, the capital city.

The rest of the CFE children go to school in two other regions of Togo, Kara and Pagouda.
